Spin and Chirality

Our research team investigates the spin-dynamics of photoexcited charge carriers in achiral and chiral semiconductors. The structures are primarily characterized via circular dichroism spectroscopy and polarized fluorescence spectroscopy. We are particularly interested in semiconductors doped with transition metal ions or with chiral biomolecules. In addition, we investigate semiconductor nanocrystals after surface modification and in combination with artificial chiral surfaces. Dynamical aspects such as spin scattering are studied by circularly polarized ultrafast pump-probe and time-resolved photoluminescence experiments.
